So, Dustin and I got up at sunrise a couple of weeks ago for Dawn and Puna's engagement session. I already love sunrise, and with a bride named Dawn, how could we possibly do anything else? : )

These guys were such fabulous models and were so awesome to work with, they made my job easy.

And Dawn is so beautiful, my camera was doing happy dances ; p

Ah, the fishing poles! So, these 2 are a crazy fish catching couple, and Puna actually proposed in the same spot we were taking the engagement photos, on a fishing trip!

I met up with Cori and Jason at the Ali`iolani, quite a change of scenery from my normal beach scene! I had a great time with them and with the cool environment and architecture~

The columns are pretty cool, and inspired me to do some fun things in black and white.

maybe my favorite shot of the day, a candid actually. Seconds after we took this, the guard made them get down (I am always getting people in trouble). While I was getting my camera set up, Cori was adjusting Jason's tie and I snapped this quick one. Glad I did ; )

ok, so I totally made them do this! Jason looked so handsome in his nice shirt and tie, I couldn't help but be inspired to be a little silly. Cori, hopefully you love it and think it is as cute as I do! (if not, call me and make me take it off the blog, and no one will be the wiser ; p )

I can't believe how much fun I had with these 2 ladies! I was a bit nervous about pulling off some fun senior portraits (a bit different from the weddings and bridals I am normally busy with), but am super happy with the results! Erin is the daughter of one of my kickball teamates, and her friend Stephanie got to come to Hawaii for a visit. What better way to spend an afternoon than taking gorgeous photos in Hawaii. When these ladies head back to Missouri, they will undoubtabley have the coolest senior portraits in the whole school : ) Gits, your a cool dad!

I love this image, probably my favorite of the day : ) Stephanie is a bit quirky, and this just seemed to fit. Hopefully she likes it as much as I do, and doesn't just think I am big dork : )

I spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon this past weekend photographing my beautiful supermodel friends amidst Acres of Iris Fields. We had an amazing time playing with lights, new lenses and fierce posing!

Shary is my best friend and favorite supermodel (and she wanted me to let all the other photogs out there how much she LOVES to model, and that she can make herself available for anyone else looking for such a fierce and amazing model!)

I rented a couple of lenses from Glazers Camera. We don't have a large camera store or rental center here in Hawaii, so I took advantage at Glazers. What an amazing store, it actually consisted of 3 different buildings and they carried everything my little photographer's heart could ever desire! I will admit it, I went to the store and rental center 4 times in my 7 day stay!

This shot was taken with the amazing and unique Tilt/Shift lens.

Something a little different! A further take on the trash the dress concept. We had such a fun shoot, and decided to get even more supermodel and fierce for the end of the session : ) We couldn't resist adding our own sense of drama to the already dramatic landscape and sky.

Don't worry ladies, hiring me doesn't mean you have to do this to your dress!

Although....if you are feeling a bit wild and creative....just let me know ; p

My favorite shot of the day! This and most of the other portraits were taken with the other lens I rented, the 85mm F1.2L. It is a pretty incredible lens, and is now on my to buy list!

Diane and Marty were married earlier this month at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel in Waikaloa on the Big Island. Ali and I only had a few hours with them, but really enjoyed the time we were able to spend making beautiful photographs for them.

I love this classic image of Diane's mom putting the final touches on her veil, and Diane's blue eyes are amazing in this light!

Ali and I had a few extra minutes to play with the rings, and had a lot of fun getting creative with the decorations in the condo. Here are a few of my favorites~

It was pretty cloudy and grey most of the day, but just as the sun was going to set, it cleared up a bit and we had this beautiful sky as our backdrop.

Diane insisted that we take 2 slices of cake to go, and the staff at the Fairmont was nice enough to wrap some up for us. I could say that I do this job because I love taking photographs of people...and although that would be partly the truth...it is really because I love the cake!

Thanks Diane and Marty for having us and allowing us to be a part of your day. I will never forget the special visit during the ceremony, and feel blessed to have been there~

Jenny and Chris might make the record for most blogged about couple! This will be the final instalment (for now at least, ha!). They are a great example of a full coverage day, with pleny of time set aside to make beautiful portraits. I generally recommend 6-8 hours for a full coverage day, and be sure to plan 30 minutes for family portraits and also 1 hour for bride and groom portraits into that timeline.

Amanda and Scott were married at Shipwreck Beach in Kauai. The ladies got ready at The LIttle Grass Shack, and the reception was at Plantation Gardens Restaurant in Poipu. It was a gorgeous day of blue skies, love, family and friends. Ali flew over to Kauai with me and we had a blast photographing Amanda and Scott's wedding!

Simple moments like this are what makes the getting ready portion of the day so fun for me. Amanda slipped into the other room (and I stalked her like the sneaky photographer that I am) to call Scott one last time before getting her dress on.

Love the details, nothing like a little Jack Johnson to set the mood~

Lynelle and Ryan were married on March 22, 2008 at Dole Cannery Ballrooms. I had Ali along to assist that day, and this is one of the many details that she captured~

So, Jenny and I are working on picking out some images for her thank you cards. I decided that instead of e-mailing all the files, I would post them all here so that her friends and family, as well as all of my wonderful blog readers, could take a look. These shots are a great example of what comes from a short 10-15 minute portrait session. I met up with Amber and Kawika last week in Mokuleia, my new favorite place for engagement photographs! We did our first session up there with Ken and Yuka in January.

I changed it up a bit this time, and we started our session on the mountain side.

We had the perfect weather and perfect sky, and Amber and Kawika were such great models!

Time for their Vogue moment! We stumbled across this old rusty cart, and I thought it would look cool for these two. Kawika pulls of the "bad boy" look quite well with his muscles and tattoos!

After all the Vogue, romance and supermodelness, we headed over to the beach side for some fun : ) These two are so silly, and I can't wait until their wedding day!
